| Bio: | ![]() Laura in dash point form - 21-year-old female human - studying media arts and culture at Murdoch University - wannabe radio journalist and cartoonist - Dockers supporter - writer (but not a very good one) of fanfiction, bad poems, short films and opinionated rants - often quoting The Simpsons or Monty Python at any given time or place, no matter where appropriate - loves music like whoa. Favourite bands include Eskimo Joe, the Fiery Furnaces, the Long Blondes, Josh Pyke, Keane, the Sleepy Jackson, 1990s, Camera Obscura and many more. Recommend her something good! - a mod and indie chick (six of one, half a dozen of the other). God, help her... - a brilliant bunch of gals: eccentric, outspoken and friendly but also aloof, shy and moody - idolises Michael Palin - collector of arty posters, funny life quotes, music t-shirts, badges and other strange junk - a socialist and proud of it! - makes an awesome cup of coffee. Seriously. - also says "awesome" a lot. Almost as many times as Peter Garrett says "jocular". - covered her room wall to wall to ceiling with Dockers photos. That's how strange she is. - big sister of the cuddly - other labels include: purveyor of fine kinky smut (aka slash fanfic), knitter of scarves, forum lurker, Nando's addict and full-time professional beatnik - a kinder word for complete and utter slacker - moderator of - loves Fremantle, hates Mandurah, lives in the southern suburbs and wants to travel the world - a community radio volunteer at RTR 92.1fm, helping produce the Monday Morning Magazine, amongst many other jobs. Formerly a presenter/producer at Groove 101.7fm for 18 months (before it was forced to close, rest its soul). - is bored with talking in third person ![]() Friending and the fine print Up until recently, my LJ became "friends only", so if you still like me enough that you want to add me, by all means go ahead. Just be nice and let me know you love me by leaving a comment here. I always welcome new friends and will add you back if I know of you from somewhere or another community. I am adept at moaning like a whiny emo bitch in my entries - so stay with me for the drama and maybe a bit of insightful wit in an otherwise dull world. I can touch on a range of topics, from what's bugging me in the news today to bizarre random thoughts to anything else which is happening to me in life, the universe and everything. And sometimes you'll have to put up with some of my fangirlings and meme-spams too. I started this journal intially to communicate the thoughts, feelings and interesting events that go about in my life - a way of getting things off my chest by sharing my ideas about the world I live in with everybody. Sometimes I complain about it, sometimes I celebrate it, but above all, I talk about it as I see it. Though I can conclude at the end that my life is as boring as everyone else's, I believe it is important to remember that we are all unique and therefore free to express ourselves in our own way. I will be opinionated and I do get angry, but I will listen! ![]() Favourite quotes - "Poets have been mysteriously silent on the subject of cheese" - GK Chesterton - "Not a shred of evidence exists in favour of the idea that life is serious" - Brendan Gill - "For birth control, I rely on my personality" - Milt Abel - "Imagination is more important than knowledge" - Albert Einstein - "I stay away from natural foods. At my age, I need all the perservatives I can get" - George Burns - "There is something curiously boring about someone else's happiness" - Aldous Huxley - "Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy" - Benjamin Franklin - "My father was very stupid when I was 19. I'm very impressed by the way he got smarter by the time I was 21" - Mark Twain - "So women make men drool? So what? So does a pizza! But at least it doesn't want to be held afterwards!" - Wil Anderson - "I don't like to call it 'getting fired', I prefer it to be called 'just another stop on the Burning Bridges tour' because people have been paying me by the hour to see me 'rock!'" - Marie Bamford - "I don't need to exercise, I'm in the Rolling Stones." - Keith Richards - "The more ridiculous the belief system, the higher the probability of its success" - Wayne R. Bartz - "A poem: He/She loves me. He/She loves me not. I am in mid sex change. And I couldn't give a toss." - Dylan Moran - "If doing an arts degree was easy, we'd call it Your Mum" - "The world wasn't conquered by people like Alexander the Average, Ivan the Bland or Attila the Ho-Hum" - "I think a fucking great gig is where the Bundy is flowing and there's no airconditioning!" - Kav Temperly - "Clarity is the path to inner peace" - Spirit Coyote (Johnny Cash) from "The Simpsons" - "I'm fairly sure that if they take porn off the internet, there'd be only one website left and it would be called 'Bring Back the Porn'!" - Dr Cox from "Scrubs" - You can't just eat the orange and throw the peel away!
